Where to go and what to do? We gotcha covered!

Happy Hour, Nightlife and Sunsets

If you're looking to have an adult beverage and unwind a little bit on your vacation, there's a seemingly endless amount of places to do so. There's also a wide variety to choose from so I thought I'd put together a list of some of our favorites to help you decide.

The Boathouse at Breach Inlet is a great restaurant but it also has a rooftop bar with perfect Westward views for every sunset. It sits right above the inlet overlooking dolphins, fisherman and a tiny marina. The Ben Sawyer Bridge and the Cooper River Bridge can be seen in the distance. The BEST sunsets I have seen have been from this spot. A cold cocktail and the Crab Fritters in Green Tabasco Cream only sweeten the deal. It's a mostly quiet/mellow spot but they do occasionally have an acoustic guitarist playing. It can be found on the south end of the island right on the inlet separating Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island.

Morgan Creek Bar and Grill This place has a little bit of everything. It's located on the intracoastal waterway at the Isle of Palms Marina on 41st avenue. It has a rooftop bar for sunset views and a "bar food" type menu upstairs. In the middle is a large restaurant with even larger windows for awesome ICW views and is (in my opinion) a little more upscale from what you find upstairs. Finally, they have a large bar area outside with tables where you can eat, a stage for musicians and cornhole. They get very busy in the summer so it can be a little loud but it's a fun place for sure. My favorite thing about the outside area is watching people trying to trailer their boats after spending a long day out on the water. It can be quite a show at times...

The Dinghy This is a favorite spot for the locals and often gets loud. They serve everything from Craft Brews to PBR and it's always a good time here. They also have live music just about every night from happy hour until about 9:30. It has a screened in patio, back porch seating and a bar with table seating inside. They also have retro video games and an old school Nintendo set up to a television. The beers are cold and the food is good and it's open from lunchtime to late night. It definitely gets loud here. It has a "bar food" type menu with Wings, burgers, fried seafood, salads and sandwiches. You can find it in the business district on Front Beach across from the Windjammer.

The Windjammer This is The Dinghy's older brother and it's a beachfront bar that has some fairly large regional acts pass through. When that happens, it gets crowded and loud! They have volleyball courts out back, pool tables inside and another "bar food" menu. There is a large back porch that sits right on the beach and it gets pretty crowded on a hot summer day. This place has been an island staple since before Hurricane Hugo and is another favorite of the locals.

Sullivan's Island Business District Rather than detail every place to have a drink on SI, I'll just throw them all together. First and foremost, they all get super crowded in the summer with a healthy mix of locals and tourists. First up is Mex 1 Coastal Cantina. It has some great fish tacos and margaritas, a large bar, large front porch and it broadcasts surf videos non-stop. Across the street is Poe's Tavern. They have amazing burgers, a large beer selection and it is pretty much always jam-packed. Always. Then there's Dunleavy's Irish Pub, my personal favorite. It's a true Irish pub with the walls covered in license plates and pictures and beer cans! They've been around for a lot longer than I have and will probably be there well after I'm gone!

This is an abbreviated list of the options you have for a cold drink but they are definitely our personal favorites. As always, you can reach out to us if there is something else you're looking for. We've been around for 20 years and we're always happy to help!

Excellent service! We boooked a last minute golf cart rental, I contacted Matt at IOP Cart Rentals, he was very friendly and accommodating and had great rates on golf cart rentals. Our golf cart was at our vacation rental when we arrived, it was in new condition, ran great, we had a wonderful time touring the Island on it. We will defiantly be calling Matt next time we vacation on IOP, I highly recommend his company.
